Head of Planning and Economic Development

Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils have long been pioneers in delivering better outcomes for our residents through shared services. Integrating our Planning Services into a single delivery team will be an important part of this work and both councils are fully committed to continuing the investment in their joint teams. We now have an opportunity for an ambitious individual to become Head of Service for both our councils, and lead this exciting programme.

This is a chance to join two of the country's top performing councils - there's already a strong platform on which to build. So the emphasis will be on consolidating what we already do well, sharing skills and experience across the new team, and shaping a modern, customer focused Planning Service. Strong leadership, relationship management and commercial skills will be vital. You'll be integral to defining the tone, culture and expectations of the new team, setting direction, and bringing people with you.

Chiltern and South Bucks present a unique professional opportunity of significant scale. Where else could you be working on airport expansion proposals, HS2, superfast broadband rollout and major capital projects, including affordable housing schemes and new community infrastructure? Not to mention working with high profile employers such as Pinewood Studios. If you can bring energy and innovation, coupled with the stakeholder engagement skills that working across two councils demands, then this could be your opportunity to take your career to the next level.
