Collections for large items

We can collect, for a charge, large or bulky household items that will not fit into your bin. Please note that all non-electrical items are currently landfilled. If you would prefer to re-use or recycle your items you can pass them on to friends or family, sell them on online auction sites, contact a local charity or take them to your nearest Household Recycling Centre.

To further increase recycling across the District, South Bucks District Council has started a four month re-use collection trial, working with local charity Betel UK in partnership with waste management company Biffa.  The aim is to divert as many bulky items as possible that are collected from households, away from disposal, and back into the supply chain as pre-loved treasures.  Betel collect and re-sell used furniture, but can also repair and up-cycle your furniture from shabby to chic, as can be seen in their latest shop 'Restored' in Gerrards Cross.

How to Book

Before you apply for a bulky collection you can check to see whether any of the items are re-usable and pass them on.

Check that we are able to collect your items from the table above. We do not collect garden waste as part of this service, if you have garden waste you can sign up to our garden waste collection service.

Count the number of items you have for collection.  If you have more than three you will need to book a separate collection.

What happens Next

You will be contacted shortly after making your booking by the Council's contractor, Biffa Municipal Ltd, so that a collection date can be arranged.

The items must be left outside the property for collection as the operatives are not insured to enter buildings.  There must be adequate access and reasonable distance for operatives to transport large heavy items to the collection vehicle. Arrangements can be made to enter private property to remove items from the ground floor in certain circumstances.

This service may be delayed slightly during Bank Holiday periods, especially Christmas and New Year.
