Chairman 2015

Councillor Duncan Smith has been elected as Chairman of South Bucks District Council.

Councillor Smith took up the position after being elected at the annual council meeting on 26 May 2015.

The role of Chairman is twofold. Firstly, as First Citizen of the District, Councillor Smith will represent the Council at various events, functions and official engagements. Secondly, as Chairman, Councillor Smith will chair the council meetings and conduct the council's deliberations, debates and decision-making.

Councillor Smith and his wife Jacqueline have lived in Buckinghamshire since 1987 and in South Bucks since 2000. He has served as a District Councillor since 2011 representing Stoke Poges, but now, upon re-election represents Gerrards Cross. During his last term Councillor Smith was the Cabinet Member for Resources.

Councillor Smith is currently Vice Chairman of the Audit Committee and Licensing Committee whilst also sitting on the Policy Advisory Group for Environment.

On his appointment as Chairman, Councillor Smith said: "I am delighted to represent the new Council and look forward to meeting residents, employees and visitors to our vibrant District. As a 21st Century council we hope to give the people of South Bucks the services and help they need, with the efficiency and quality of an organisation that works to the highest standards."

 

Vice Chairman 2016

Councillor Dr Wendy Matthews was appointed Vice Chairman in February 2016 and has been a District Councillor since 2011 representing the Iver Village and Richings Park Ward.

Wendy is a member of the Healthy Communities Policy Advisory Group, Pinewood Community Liaison Group and Planning Committee.

Councillor Matthews also sits on various outside bodies including the Bucks Health and Adult Social Care Select Committee, represents South Bucks District Council on the Joint Planning Policy Member Reference Group and and attends the Frimley Health NHS Trust meetings as an observer. In addition to this, Councillor Matthews is Chairman of Iver Parish Council.
