Community Cards winners enjoy a day at LEGOLAND

The winners of the 2018 Community Cards competition have been announced.

Ivingswood Academy and Dorney School were the overall winners of this year's sticker-collecting scheme, which helps prepare Year 6 pupils for their transition to secondary school.

Pupils from the winning schools were treated to a special day out at LEGOLAND on Friday.

Chiltern District Cllr. Liz Walsh said: "Congratulations to the year six pupils at Ivingswood Academy and Dorney School who successfully completed this year's Community Cards scheme and collected the most stickers between them. We hope they have a great time enjoying their well-deserved day out at LEGOLAND."

South Bucks District Cllr. Patrick Hogan said: "Congratulations to the winning schools and all the pupils who participated in the scheme. Those pupils will have picked up some vital life skills from taking part in the challenges and these will stand them in good stead for starting secondary school in September. Well done to everyone involved."

Through completing various challenges and attending events, the pupils collected stickers relating to different topics such as money management, cyber safety, healthy lifestyles and environmental issues.

Year 6 pupils in Ivingswood Academy and Dorney School collected the highest average number of stickers and secured the first prize of a class trip to LEGOLAND Windsor.

A total of 15 schools completed the scheme this year. Also recognised were Curzon C of E Combined School who won a trip to The CLIMB in Amersham and St Nicholas C of E Combined School who won family swim passes provided by GLL Better.

The Entertainer donated £50 voucher to each school that took part.

The scheme was run by Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils Community Safety Team, Thames Valley Police, Wycombe Women's Aid, R-U Safe and M for Money Credit Union.
