New leader and Cabinet appointed

The new Leader of South Bucks District Council was last night named as Cllr Nick Naylor, former Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Development.
Nick was appointed at a special meeting of the full Council last night (19 October), following the recent resignation of Cllr Ralph Bagge, who left for business and personal reasons.

Nick, who lives in Burnham, represented the Burnham Lent Rise ward on the district council from 2011 to 2015 and following the boundary changes in 2015 he now represents the Burnham Church and Beeches ward. He has served on a number of committees and represents the Council on various outside bodies including the Bucks Planning Group , Colne Valley Community Interest Company and  Heathrow Airport Consultative Committee.

He said: "It's a privilege to serve the residents of South Bucks and a great honour to be asked to take on the role of Leader. I will do my utmost to do justice to those who have put their faith in me. This is an exceptionally busy time for the Council, and like many other local authorities we are facing financial pressures, dealing with homeless issues and highly sensitive planning matters. With the support of my new Cabinet, Council members and senior management, I have every faith we can continue to provide our residents with the high standards and quality services they deserve, and expect."

He paid tribute to his predecessor, Cllr Ralph Bagge, who continues to represent the Stoke Poges ward on the District Council, is a member of the Stoke Poges Parish Council and represents the Stoke Poges and Wexham ward on Bucks County Council.

Nick said: "Ralph set a great example of leadership. He's a man of integrity and principle who has my respect and friendship. He served this Council well as Leader and I am pleased he is continuing to represent the people of Stoke Poges."
