Funding Applications Open for Young Talented Athletes
Talented young sports men and women across South Bucks are being invited to apply for funding from the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) - an independent athlete support scheme providing athletes across the UK with tangible support to aid their sports performance.
Each successful applicant will benefit from financial and or training awards. Financial awards of up to £1,250 will support athletes' associated travel, competition and equipment costs during the next 12 months. Recipients will also benefit from training awards that allow free training membership access to over three hundred venues across the UK this includes physio and injury rehab support.
Last year GSF supported 21 athletes from South Bucks District.
Across the UK it is projected three thousand athletes will be supported in 2018; it will mark a special milestone for the UK's largest independent athlete support programme as the programme turns ten years, over which period it will have provided sixteen thousand athlete awards at a value of £9million.
Young athletes have until 20 February 2018 to apply via the GSF website at www.gllsportfoundation.org. To be eligible for a grant, applicants must live or be in education in a partnership where GLL or its partners operate; or be affiliated to a sports club that has a training base at a GLL or partner operated sport and leisure venue.
