Waste and Recycling - Privacy Notice

As a Data Controller and competent authority, Chiltern and South Bucks District Councils collect personal data and sensitive personal data for the purposes of:

  • Rubbish Collections

  • Recycling Collections

  • Food Waste Collections

  • Garden Waste Collections

  • Bulky Household Waste Collections

  • Use of Recycling Centres if you have contact us about using the site

  • Organising a litter pick

  • Request for a replacement container or repair to an existing container

  • Schools collection

  • Requesting an assisted collection

  • Littering - anyone who is caught littering can receive a fixed penalty notice

  • Fly- posting - you can receive a fixed penalty notice for fly-posting

  • Report of an abandoned vehicle, graffiti, or a cleansing issue

Processing of such personal data is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or for our official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law, and meets one of the further requirements in Schedule 8 of the Data Protection Act 2018, namely that it is necessary for the exercise of a function conferred on a person by enactment and reasons of substantial public interest.

We will only keep your information as long as required to provide a high quality service, unless we are required to keep it longer for legal reasons. Information from requests made through your Customer Account are retained for two years.

We will share your personal data, if appropriate, with third parties, including:

  • Bucks County Council

  • Wycombe District Council

  • Chiltern and South Bucks Customer Services team

  • Chiltern and South Bucks Environmental Health team

  • Environment Agency

  • Thames Valley Police

  • Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)

  • Social Landlords: including, but not limited to, Paradigm Housing Group, London and Quadrant, Red Kite Community Housing

  • Serco (the waste provider for Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils)

  • Biffa (the waste provider for South Bucks District Council)
