Our planning policy documents set the context for development in the area, governing the decisions made on planning applications and what types of development are suitable for each area.
On 1 April 2020 Buckinghamshire Council was created and became the local planning authority for the area previously covered by four local planning authorities, namely Aylesbury Vale District Council, Chiltern District Council, South Bucks District Council and Wycombe District Council, as well as Buckinghamshire County Council who was responsible for Minerals and Waste Planning.

On 26 November 2020 Buckinghamshire Council adopted the Burnham Beeches Special Area of Conservation Strategic Access Management and Monitoring Strategy Supplementary Planning Document. This supplementary planning document contains the avoidance and mitigation strategy for additional new homes within 5.6 kilometres of the Burnham Beeches Special Area of Conservation.
